Kannan has been a wannabe intellectual ever since he can remember. Academic stints at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, The State University of New York at Buffalo, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology mean that he has spent a full decade of his life in universities thinking formal training paves the way to be an intellectual. Professionally, he has worked for a couple of very well known high-tech companies in the San Francisco Bay Area in areas such as Web Services and Big Data to name a few. He has been lucky to have had the opportunity to work in a variety of areas and experiment with new areas every 5-6 years.
